Transparency and Accountability
At Akshaya Patra, we adhere to good governance practices to ensure transparency and accountability in all spheres of functioning—from fundraising to reporting. We strive for excellence through compliance to laws, regulations and operational effectiveness best practices, adoption of ethical fundraising policies and voluntarily committing to the highest standards of financial transparency and disclosure of information.
We comply with widely-accepted accounting standards such as the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and the Indian Accounting Standards issued by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). We have an Independent Audit Committee (AC), comprising eminent members from the finance domain. Reviewed financial statements and audit and evaluation reports are maintained and regularly sent to the Government and donors. These documents are also published in the annual report and on our official website.
We have been honoured with several awards and recognitions in this domain, including the coveted ICAI (The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India) Gold Shield Award for Excellence in Financial Reporting for seven consecutive years and the SAFA (South Asian Federation of Accountants) Best Presented Accounts Award. Akshaya Patra is the only NGO inducted into the ICAI Hall of Fame.
