MTR Foods partners with Akshaya Patra to adopt 20 schools

MTR Foods has teamed up with Akshaya Patra to provide nutritious mid-day meals to more than 2,000 students in 20 schools for a year at Suratkal, Karnataka. The initiative named ‘Namma Makkalu, Namma MTR’ was inaugurated on 23 September, 2015 at the Government PU College,  Katipalla, Mangaluru by Sanjay Sharma, CEO, MTR Foods; Ganesh Shenoy, Vice President, IT and Finance, MTR Foods and Sundeep Talwar, Chief Marketing Officer, The Akshaya Patra Foundation. This initiative seeks to provide mid-day meals to children in schools with the  motive of promoting education and reducing illiteracy. The ‘Namma Makkalu, Namma MTR’ programme is jointly funded by MTR Foods and The Orkla Friends Fund for the cause of improving health and nutrition in India.

Speaking on the occasion Sundeep Talwar said, “The mission of The Akshaya Patra Foundation is to reach 5 million children by 2020 and so far we have been able to touch the lives of children across India with the help of organisations like MTR Foods.  We are glad to have them as our partners and hope more organisations come forward to help us achieve our objective. Also, we would like to thank the State Government and MDM officials for their continued involvement and support.”
