Akshaya Patra has won the Award of Excellence in the 21st Annual Communicator Award in the Print not-for-profit category for the Annual Report 2013-14, and in the Video not-for-profit category for the film 'The Possibilities'. The Foundation also won the Distinction Award for the Annual Report for overall design.
Established two decades ago to honour excellence in marketing and communications, this prestigious award is one of the largest of its kind in the world. Comprising of ten categories, with the recently included expanded mobile, audio and new cause marketing categories, the Communicator Awards received over 6,000 entries from the US and around the world.
The Award of Excellence, the highest honour of the Communicator Awards, is bestowed on those whose entries position them as the best in the field, and these recipients will be showcased in the Interactive Winners Gallery.
These awards are judged by members of the Academy of Interactive & Visual Arts (AIVA), a invite-only group of elite professionals from acclaimed media, communication, creative, advertising and marketing companies. The entries are judged by an esteemed panel based on their standard of excellence in marketing and communication, particularly in terms of the quality of craft displayed. The entries are scored on a 100 point scale, where the Excellence winners are usually awarded 90 and above, and the Distinction winners are scored between 70 to 89. Last year, Akshaya Patra won the Distinction Award for overall design in the Print category.
Speaking on the occasion, Linda Day, executive director of the Academy Interactive and Visual Arts said, "The work entered in the 21st Annual Communicator Awards serves as a true testament to the innovative ideas and capabilities of communications and marketing professionals around the world. Each year our entrants continue to amaze by reinventing the ways we communicate and market in an ever-changing industry. On behalf of the entire Academy, we congratulate this year's Communicator Award Entrants and Winners for their passion and dedication. We are humbled to be given the opportunity to recognize such amazing work."
